Philhealth President Morales, absent sa pagdinig sa Senado

NO SHOW si Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) president at chief executive Ricardo Morales at isa pang opisyal ng ahensya sa ikatlong pagdinig ng Senate Committee of the Whole hinggil sa mga sinasabing iregularidad sa ahensya.

Ayon kay Senate President Vicente Sotto III, si Morales ay kasalukuyang naka-medical leave habang si PhilHealth executive vice president at chief operating officer Arnel De Jesus ay may scheduled medical follow-up checkup.

“We would just like to place on record that we have received a message from Gen. Morales that he is on medical leave. There is an excuse letter on the way, and also concurrent Vice President Arnel De Jesus also sent a letter,” pahayag ni Sotto.

“They will not be able to attend the hearing even virtually because of scheduled medical follow-up checkups,” dagdag pa ng senador.

Sumasailalim si Morales sa treatment sa kanyang lymphoma kaya’t naghain ito ng medical leave bilang pagsunod sa payo ng kanyang doktor.

Matatandaang sa sulat kay Sotto noong Augusrt 15, sinabi ni Morales na epektibo ang kanyang leave mula August 17 hanggang 28.

“This is to respectfully inform the Senate Committee of the Whole that the undersigned regrets not being able to attend the Committee hearing on August 18, 2020,” saad sa sulat ni Morales.

Itinalaga naman si De Jesus bilang kanyang kapalit sa hearing subalit maging ito ay hindi nakadalo sa pagdinig.

Sa kanyang sulat kay Sotto, sinabi ni de Jesus na mayroon siyang medical follow-up check-up kasunod ng “emergency medical procedures” na ginawa sa kanya.
